I'm not the most patient of souls - actually I was born without that particular virtue. So I practise the next best thing: distraction ... wrestling with cruel inventions like photoshop for instance ... and planning what to make next.
Thankfully I have managed to fire a kiln load or two and been experimenting with more decals of birdies which my lovely illustrator daughter produced a while ago.
I rather like them :)
Love the birdie bowls and owls and birds always seem to be really popular, don't they? Hopefully the better weather means you'll be able to make more pots.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week crafting :-)
Alison
Owls ... you have just given me an idea ;). Thanks for writing, Alison. You have a creative week too :) x
DeleteI love the seagull, and am curious about how you put them on the pottery. Are they drawn on? or printed?
ReplyDeleteMe too! How do you do it? They look amazing
DeleteThey were drawn on paper, then scanned and printed on special double layered paper that separates out in water. The top layer which is coated with special ink is applied to the pot and burnt into the glaze at around 800 degrees. :)
DeleteYour pots are lovely. I really like the fact that the bird designs are inside the pot. Have a creative week.
ReplyDeleteAli xx
Thanks Ali! Yes, I also like the images on the inside. Means I see them whilst using a bowl. Makes me smile x
DeleteThey're beautiful - I love the shade of blue. Your daughter is very talented as well as you!
ReplyDeleteMy Zanna is talented .. I agree with you there ;)))
DeleteI rather like them too, they are so pretty and I love the subtle colouring too.
ReplyDeleteJan x
That's good to know, Jan! x
DeleteVery beautiful:) A great combination of illustration and pottery. I too love the fact the birds are on the inside.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicky. Just voted for you again :)
DeleteThey look really nice and I think you have photographed them well. I particularly like the ring of them around the vase.
ReplyDeleteHow nice it would be to take a course in product photography ... dream on ... sigh
DeleteI love the birds - how wonderful to have an illustrator daughter, I love the way you have both come together combining your talents to make such beautiful bowls :)
ReplyDeleteShe isn't my only talented daughter either! I'm one very lucky mum :))) x
DeleteGorgeous! Really evocative of being by the sea. How talented you and your daughter are! Well worth being patient for. It would probably drive me mad too though!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you like them!
DeleteI'm in love with your seagull bowls! They're soooo gorgeous and definitely worth waiting for :) x
ReplyDeleteOne seagull bowl has just been sold. It's all wrapped up in its sturdy box waiting for the Royal Mail treatment tomorrow. It's silly, but I find it quite hard to let my stuff go ...
DeleteTime for another sigh ;)
What nice little bowls, very handy to have a talented daughter! Patience isn't my best point either! haha
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not alone, lol !!
DeleteI can't think of anything else to say except that I love these bowls. The birds are gorgeous and the colours of glaze are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa and all you other lovely folks for your positive comments. Means a lot and spurs me on xxx
ReplyDeleteThey are absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lucy :) x
DeleteBeautiful bowls. I really like the rings of blue in the bowl in the last photo.
ReplyDeleteThey happen during the firing. The glaze turns liquid, slides a little on the clay and settles - often (as here) emphasising the throwing rings :)). I like them too!
