naming baby

Some very nice friends have been celebrating the arrival of their first baby. Reason enough for me to experiment with some ceramics with baby's name as the theme. Decorations for the nursery, a little name-plate to put on the door ... that sort of thing.

I wished I could make up my mind which one I like best. I will probably give all three in the hope that I will get some candid feedback because I'm thinking of adding them to my online shop.

  2. Can't you? That's not very nice. Sob. They do show up at my end and also on a couple of other's. They're both using Safari. Will try and investigate ...

  4. That's a relief! The pram's your favourite? All you need is a baby now and I'll make you one as a present because of your nice comment :)))

  6. I love the sailing boat- the group of three and the singular one. The pram is cute, but the sailing boats would last longer for a little boy.

  8. Yes, I've decided that the boats are my favourites, too. They are quite time consuming to make, I cut out the hull and sails separately and then fuse them together so that I get different thicknesses. Thinking of making some plaster moulds that I can press the clay into ... that should speed the process up a little .... ;)

  10. These are great, I bet they're much appreciated! Beautiful photography too. Not sure which is my favourite... I think I probably like the boat with 'Ben' in full but love them all!

  12. Hi, yes we are very, very pleased with them - so perfect! We got back from holiday in Norfolk to find them, so sorry for the week's delay in responding- they did get to us, thank you! We love the boat with 'Ben' in full on it, which has some lovely detail made by pressing little nuts into the clay which adds some texture. The colours are particularly lovely on this one too. We also love the boats spelling out 'Ben' and think we will hang them with ribbon in the nursery, we will post a photo soon. Mecki doesn't know this, but Ben's been on four boat trips already on his first holiday, and the first boat trip he took was very special as we saw dolphins! So having boats couldn't be more perfect. We're hoping he will grow up to enjoy being on the water as much as we do! I was looking for letters spelling 'Ben' in the shops, but could only find wooden ones where two letters were too similar in colour and one of the letters was a strange crayfish shape, so having such lovely colours and design is great! Thank you for thinking of us and putting so much care into these lovingly made treasures, we really appreciate them xxx

  13. Hi Jerry and Co. I was sooooooo happy reading your comment. So glad too for having had the boat idea. I expect you all got pretty excited when you spotted the dolphins. I remember catching sight of a wale once out at sea, it felt like being a child at Christmas all over again ;).

I enjoyed making the boats and am delighted that you're pleased. I also enjoyed addressing the parcel to Ben himself wondering whether it was the first ever post he received ....

Looking forward to meeting him one day

    xxx
